Something many
people fear is having to pursue surgery to get rid of
hemorrhoids. If the hemorrhoids are persistent, surgery may be
your only answer. Otherwise, you will be happy to know there are
other options for hemorrhoid treatment.
The first type of treatment pertains to external hemorrhoids and
is a clot treatment. It is a minor type of treatment that can be
performed in your doctor’s office. Anesthetic will be applied
before the doctor cuts off the clot. As the wound begins to
heal, the area will be tender but the hemorrhoids will be gone.
The next treatment you can pursue is rubber band litigation.
This type of treatment is performed for prolapsed internet
hemorrhoids. There is no need for special preparation to undergo
this hemorrhoid treatment. What happens is a small rubber band
is positioned around the hemorrhoid. It will then cut off the
flow of blood causing it to shrink. If you have multiple
hemorrhoids, this method is performed once every month.
Sclerotherapy, also known as the injection therapy, is a
procedure used for treatment of small internal hemorrhoids. By
injecting a hardening agent it will cause a loss of circulation,
which will decrease the size of the hemorrhoid. This treatment
is recommended over the rubber band litigation if there are
multiple hemorrhoids as it can treat multiple at one time.
Infrared coagulations is a procedure that is recommended for
smaller hemorrhoids. This procedure involves the hemorrhoids
being burned off using infrared light and electric current. As
the infrared light is aimed at the base of the hemorrhoid, it
will cause it to clot, shrink, and disappear.
In the worst case scenario, you may need to undergo a
hemorrhoidectomy. This is for the more severe cases as it is
recommended for extremely painful or itchy external or internal
hemorrhoids. During the treatment, either the scalpel or laser
is used to remove the hemorrhoid using anesthesia. Recovery is
typically 3 to 10 days in the hospital and another 4 weeks at
home.
Hemorrhoids are certainly something you do not want to mess
around with. If you sense any kinds of symptoms, it is important
you act as soon as possible. If you catch it in time, there is
hemorrhoid treatment that is fairly minor. But if the pain
becomes too much to handle, the treatment will lead to surgery.
Just know that you have other options to choose from before
reverting to surgery.
